Artisan Studio offers free classes to 3 groups

The Old Town Artisan Studio's nonprofit arm plans to provide free art classes for three children's groups using a grant from the city of La Quinta.
Eight to 10 children from the Boys & Girls Club of La Quinta will attend free pottery throwing and sculpting classes on Monday and Tuesday, and similar programs are planned for children from the Braille Institute and the Coachella Valley Autism Society of America in future months.
"We want to bring in people from the valley who cannot afford to have the arts in their life at this point in time," said Debra Sawicky, who oversees the summer scholarship program.
The La Quinta Senior Center has also sent seniors to the studio for classes that organizers plan to fund through the same city grant.
